The buescher elkhart ind. trombone1/5/2023 ![]() I bought this horn from Laksar Reese, a superb player and sax restorer. It plays in better pitch than any Selmer I've ever tried. Take this magnificent vintage silver Buescher alto(serial number 283764) sax. They aren't Selmers(and I know Selmers through and through) but each plays as good or better than its Selmer counterpart. I gigged with them and loved playing them. more I'm not a dealer and I never purchased a horn that wasn't top-notch and that wasn't intended to be a player's horn. I've reached the age where I've got to give up playing- which means selling off my magnificent collection of saxes(see my other auctions). But please ask questions, if any, before bidding. This saxophone would make a fantastic addition to your vintage collection, or(with a little TLC) may be the perfect instrument for your Jazz Band. The handle has been replaced with an old leather belt(see pictures) Please take a look at my pictures. ![]() The hardware is still complete and in working order. Also included in this auction is the piece that goes where the neck goes when not using the neck(barrel? A music lyre, a Pro Sling neck strap, and the original case, which is in pretty good condition for its age. And the Conn Standard Steelay mouthpiece is also in very good condition. The neck piece is also in good condition(see pictures) The cork looks good. So we asked her to play this one, just so we could see if it played.and it did! It actually sounded good- none of the pads leaked, and I don't believe any repairs are needed. Our daughter plays the alto sax in her high school jazz and marching bands. Most of the original finish is still present. Which I could not even capture in the pictures. This sax is remarkable in that it is virtually DENT FREE! There are a very few minor dings. At the top of the this information is the serial number of 97308. The back reads TRUE-TONE TRADE MARK REGISTERED inside of triangle and tuning bar. The front is beautifully engraved THE BUESCHER ELKHART. ![]() So I will describe it to you with both words(as best I can) and pictures. I don’t know much at all about this type of instrument. more that I recently acquired at a Northern Indiana Estate Sale.
